Product Registrations Update

Requirements & Legacy Registration Cleanup Deadline Extension

IDOA – Friday, March 28, 2025

In response to requests for additional time, the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Division of Cannabis Regulation has extended the deadline for product registration updates. Licensees now have until July 1, 2025, to ensure compliance with updated product registration requirements.

This year, the Department enhanced the product registration process while moving records to the online Licensing Portal. Key updates include:

  • The ability to request updates to certain product details.
  • The requirement to report any changes to packaging and labeling before use.
  • The mandatory upload of all packaging and labeling images for review and approval.

As previously announced, all new labeling and packaging must be submitted through the online product registration update process and cannot be used until processing has been successfully completed.

Legacy Registration Updates – Extended Deadline: July 1, 2025

Legacy product registrations (processed before August 2024) were migrated online with minimal details and no images. To ensure compliance, all legacy product registrations must be updated to include complete product details and required uploads, identical to new online registrations.

The previous deadline of March 31, 2025, has been extended to July 1, 2025, providing licensees additional time to comply with these requirements.

Noncompliance Risks Product Deactivation

  • Beginning July 2, 2025, the Department will start deactivating incomplete or noncompliant product registrations.
  • Deactivated products cannot be manifested, potentially disrupting business operations.
  • Re-registration of deactivated products will require a $100 fee per product.

Act Now to Avoid Business Disruptions

As we approach the updated deadline, businesses must:

  1. Address any incomplete registrations before they are deactivated.
  2. Update outdated registrations before they are found noncompliant.

Failure to act may result in business disruptions or additional costs.
