Update Regarding License Renewal Fees:
Option to Pay in Quarterly Installments Extended (Craft Growers and Infusers)
The Illinois Department of Agriculture (“Department”) previously announced that licensed craft grower, infuser, and transporter organizations could choose to pay their first and second license renewal fees in deferred quarterly installments. The Department is extending the deferred quarterly installment payment option to the third renewal period for craft growers and infusers. Take note that unless further changes are announced, the fourth renewal round for each craft grower and infuser license will require full renewal fee to be paid at the time of renewal request. Keep this in mind when deciding whether to participate in the quarterly payment option.
Below are tables reflecting quarterly payment amounts and due dates for organizations pursuing the installment option. Licensees should identify the table applicable to their specific license type and initial license effective date to ensure the correct amounts and due dates are followed. Tables/schedules for any first renewal rounds that have already passed are omitted because those details were previously provided. Below you will find tables differentiated by renewal round. All license renewal fees are non-refundable, and the 50% social equity applicant fee waiver does not apply at renewal.

Licensees may pay 100% of their renewal fee at once. However, if your organization chooses to pursue the quarterly installments, written notice should be submitted to the Department along with all required renewal documents confirming participation in the Quarterly Renewal Fee Payment Program prior to the renewal request deadline referenced in your latest renewal notice. Each quarterly payment check should be accompanied by a letter or memo identifying the licensed organization name, license number, and the payment number. (e.g., “Craft Grower Company ABC License #1234567890-CG – 3rd Renewal Round, License Renewal Payment 2 of 4”)
When your organization is approaching renewal, it is imperative that quarterly installments related to your previous renewal periods be paid in full. After receiving a request for license renewal, the Department will evaluate the organization’s history of compliance with requirements of the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act. If license renewal is requested, and at that time a licensee has not paid all prior fees that have come due, the request may be delayed or result in a denial. Licensees who do not complete license renewal timely and remain expired for more than six months may face suspension and/or ultimate revocation of their license.
THE OPTIONAL DEFERRED QUARTERLY RENEWAL INSTALLMENT PARTICIPATION DOES NOT IMPACT EACH ORGANIZATION’S RESPONSIBILITY TO TIMELY SUBMIT A RENEWAL REQUEST.
Renewal reminder notices with instructions and required forms are provided no less than 90 days prior to license expiration. If your license is within 90 days of expiration and your organization has not been able to locate their renewal notice, please immediately contact the Bureau of Licensing and Administration at AGR.AdultUse@illinois.gov providing your license number and organization name.
